Grief
This is a very abstract piece. I wanted to capture how it feels to be stuck in grief, and how help can come from unlikely places or when you least expect it. But in truth, its up to the viewer to decide how this makes them feel!
In order to make this piece happen, I used Cinema 4d for the 3D elements, Photoshop for frame-by-frame, and then After Effects to composite the environment.

Moodboard
I think it’s interesting that my initial moodboard was a lot darker than what the piece turned out to be.
The character in the jar was based on these sketches I made in my sketchbook. The sketches themselves were inspired by the Rorschach test.
3D Renders
First, I constructed the environment in Cinema 4D.
Frame-by-Frame
The renders would then be uploaded into Photoshop, where I animated the character.
Compositing
Effect such as smoke, dust, and particles were added in After Effects.
Final Touches
The final video was put back into Photoshop, where I added some extra details.
