Pocket-Sized Feminism

A typographical piece set inspired by Blythe Baird’s spoken word Pocket-Sized Feminism.

This work holds significant personal meaning for me, as it emphasized many challenges of being a woman. I aimed to create an animation that would enhance Blythe's message without overshadowing it. The challenge lay in maintaining a purely typographical approach without relying on prominent imagery.

If you haven’t listened to whole spoken word piece, I strongly encourage you to watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vT74LH0W8ig&ab_channel=ButtonPoetry

Here’s an example of me experimenting with the amount of imagery I wanted to incorporate into this piece. In the initial attempt, the pin-up girl proved too distracting from the words, prompting me to substitute her with the words "naked posters." Additionally, I reduced the opacity of the text to achieve a more handwritten appearance.
